After recently breaking its $5,000 record, Bitcoin has gone beyond $6,000 for the first time, bringing its market capitalization to $100 billion. The new record was set on Friday, marking the latest significant upward swing for the cryptocurrency. Bitcoin’s value is up 500% this year.
Some of the rise in value could be coming from reduced fears about regulations in China, even though it’s not clear the regulatory environment will be especially nice towards Bitcoin. A lot of people believe a Chinese ban on initial coin offerings will be temporary.
