Bitcoin reached a new all-time high today, with the cryptocurrency going for $4,926 per coin, according to Bloomberg. Today’s high was just over the $4,921 the digital currency grew to in early September. After that prior record, Bitcoin quickly fell following news of an impending crackdown in China.
Negative news and concerns about upcoming regulations pushed down Bitcoin’s price last month. It eventually fell to $2,900 on September 15, but it has been rising since.
Regulatory uncertainty persists, so it’s not clear Bitcoin will remain at this kind of high value. Russia, for example, indicated on Tuesday that a crackdown could be coming.
