Best new Android and iPhone apps (mid April)

A new app by Apple, this one uses your camera for some entertaining selfie shots or videos. You can have a live animation effect applied as you shoot, and you can have auto-generated captions under your video. The speech-to-text engine is also impressively good, so the captions are usually on point.

Microsoft came out with a new photo app, too. Sprinkles has some perks like automatic age and emotion detection, but it’s main function is to let you decorate your pictures with… well, sparkly and colorful stuff.

Yet another camera app, but this one takes all control away from the user. You shoot a photo of your face (or someone else’s), and let the app do its thing. It will detect your emotion and then modify and enhance your photo up to cartoon-ish proportions, in order to exaggerate it in a funny way.

The makers of the popular fitness app Runtastic have not come up with their own cooking app, too. Runtasty is chock-full of healthy recipes and various kitchen tips for the health-nuts to check out.
