Recent rumours suggest that ASUS will kill its ZenWatch smartwatch lineup due to poor sales. The company is reportedly shipping an average of just 5,000 to 6,000 ZenWatch units per month across the product line, which is too low for the company. This could be another company that has shifted its focus away from Android Wear platform, after Motorola put off smartwatches “indefinitely” and Samsung is sticking with its own Tizen-based Gear line.
Despite these rumours, ASUS is keeping its promise and is now rolling out the Android Wear 2.0 update to the ZenWatch 3 owners. The update has probably reached a very small number of devices at this point, but expect to see it on more in upcoming days.
