Asus has been in the testing phase of their latest flagship offering set to launch at MWC 2018. There have been many leaks of the ZenFone 5 including pictures of the actual phone, some reported sketches from the manufacturing division. However, the latest AnTuTu leak provides the best look at the phone so far. The one spotted is reportedly the most powerful version of the ZenFone 5, which might be offered in many variants.
Specifications of ZenFone 5
If you take a look at the AntuTu screenshot above, the phone would have the SnapDragon 845 with 6GB of ram. Just like every smartphone manufacturer in the market, Asus has also opted to go for a 18:9 aspect ratio display with a resolution of 2240 x 1080p. When it comes to internal storage, as you can see from the screenshot, it’s 32GB, which is a fairly odd choice for a flagship. Unless there is a MicroSD slot incorporated. When it comes to the software, ZenFone 5 will run on Android Oreo, with Asus’s ZenUI on top.
Hardware Analysis
When it comes to the hardware department, the ZenFone 5 is reported to have a dual camera array at the rear, with one being a telephoto lens and the other a wide angle. One other interesting design feature is the notch on the front of the phone, which looks inspired by Apple’s iPhone X’s design language. However, at this point, we might as well drop comparing phones to the iPhone because let’s face it every smartphone manufacturer is following in the footsteps of Apple’s Design Language in some way or the other. It is currently unclear whether Asus will implement something similar to Face ID on the ZenFone 5, however, like OnePlus 5T, some sort of face recognition could be expected. The ZenFone 5 is expected to be a full metal unibody design and would be available in various color options.
What to Expect
With the Mobile World Congress 2018 approaching fast, there are a lot of smartphones that are getting ready to be unveiled at the annual event. There should some interesting concept smartphones, and also some Android phones which implement the notch design with vastly similar specs and around the price of $500 to $700. Although, so take these leaks and rumors with a grain of salt. We just have to wait till the event and find out for sure.
