A new entry-level Android smartphone from Asus has been certified by China’s telecommunications regulatory agency TENAA. The smartphone has been listed on the TENAA website as the X00GD, and is being speculated to be a ZenFone 4 series device.

The X00GD features a 5.2-inch display with 720 x 1280 HD resolution and is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 SoC clocked at 1.5 GHz under the hood. It will be available in three memory configurations: 2GB RAM + 16GB storage, 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. The rear camera will be a 13MP unit with a dual-tone LED flash, while on the front the handset will be equipped with an 8MP selfie snapper. A fingerprint scanner is included on the front, embedded inside the home button.

The smartphone measures 149.5 x 73.7 x 8.85mm and weighs in at 169.5 grams. The reason behind the relatively high thickness is a high capacity 4850mAh capacity battery inside, which should deliver excellent battery stamina. The X00GD will run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out of the box at launch and is going to be available in Luxury Gold, Rose Gold, and Black color options.

We could possibly find out more about the Asus X00GD and the rest of the ZenFone 4 lineup at the Asus Zennovation event on the 4th of January.
