Leading gaming notebook brand Asus is reportedly working on a new notebook that will be the world’s thinnest notebook to feature NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics. The new notebook will carry the model number ROG GX501 and is likely to be unveiled this coming week at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017 in Las Vegas.

The Asus ROG GX501 is said to feature a 15.6-inch display with 3840 x 2160 4K UHD resolution and support for the NVIDIA G-Sync variable refresh rate technology. The notebook is expected to run on a 7th Generation Intel Kaby Lake processor, paired with up to 24GB of DDR4 memory. In terms of storage, the GX501 is expected to come with the next-gen PCIe x4 NVMe SSD storage inside. All this in a body just 16.65mm thick. For reference, the Razer Blade Pro, which is currently the thinnest notebook to feature NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics, measures in at 22.5mm.

With a thin profile and top-end GeForce GTX 1080 graphics inside, the ROG GX501 will no doubt be priced at a premium. However, for consumers looking for a powerful yet thin gaming notebook that they can around easily, the upcoming GX501 could be worth it. For more details, we will need to wait until Asus officially announces the ROG GX501.
