Along with the PCE-AC88 802.11ac Wi-Fi PCIe adapter, Asus Singapore has also launched the USB-AC68, a stylish USB 3.0 wireless adapter that allows users to instantly upgrade their desktop to dual-band 802.11ac AC1900-class Wi-Fi.
The USB-AC68 offers a 3×4 MIMO configuration and ASUS AiRadar Beamforming to deliver optimum reception. As for performance, the adapter delivers AC1900 speeds of up to 1300Mbps on the 5GHz band and 600Mbps on the 2.4GHz band. For maximum reception, the USB-AC68 includes two internal antennas and two external 3-position holding antennas.
Similar to the PCE-AC88, if you want to enjoy maximum performance, you will need to have an 802.11ac router. However, the USB-AC68 is fully backward-compatible with all previous Wi-Fi standards, so it will still work even if you own an older router. And since the USB-AC68 uses the USB 3.0 interface, you don’t have to worry about any data bottlenecks between the adapter and your computer, as USB 3.0 supports up to 10 times faster data transfer speeds when compared to USB 2.0.
In terms of design, the USB 3.0 wireless adapter offers a stylish look with a black and red color scheme. It includes a handy cradle as well.
The Asus USB-AC68 will soon be available for purchase in markets across Singapore for S$129.
