Asus Singapore has announced the XG-U2008, a 10-port unmanaged Ethernet switch with two next-gen 10GBase-T (10G) ports for ultra-fast networking speeds of up to 10Gbps.

The company’s first 10G-capable switch, the XG-U2008 offers enterprise-level performance designed to meet the needs of small and medium businesses (SMBs), professional users or serious gamers who need to run bandwidth-intensive network applications or connect to the latest 10G wide-area-network (WAN) services, as well as connecting standard Gigabit Ethernet devices.

The two 10G ports on the XG-U2008 deliver up to 10Gbps speeds via standard RJ-45 cables. Additionally, it also comes with 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports, which support speeds of up to 1Gbps and can be used to connect any wired networking device. The two 10G ports come with a three-color signal indicator LED that tells you what speed the cable supports. There is no complicated setup process involved either, all you need to do is simply power it on and start connecting devices. Depending on the type of device connected, each port automatically configures itself as a WAN port or LAN port.

The XG-U2008 offers an attractive slim design with a brushed aluminum top and compact shape that makes it an attractive addition to any home or office. For larger offices, Asus is going to sell an optional space-saving rack-mount kit that will allow the switch to be fitted in a standard 19-inch bay. There are no fans inside the switch, which helps ensure a quiet working environment.

Asus hasn’t revealed any pricing info yet but we expect to hear availability and pricing info for the Singapore market very soon.
