ASUS today announced the upgraded version of the Xonar U7 external sound card, dubbed the U7 MKII.
Similar to the U7, the new Xonar U7 MKII features a compact USB-powered design and delivers true 7.1-channel, 192KHz/24-bit high-definition (HD) surround-sound output. Inside the Xonar U7 MKII is a high-quality Cirrus Logic CS4398 digital-to-analog converter (DAC), which has been coupled with exclusive ASUS Hyper Ground technology, delivering a 114dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for ultra-pure sound.
With gamers in mind, the Xonar U7 MKII allows users to make instant audio adjustments without interrupting their game, thanks to dedicated headphone and microphone controls. The master volume control can be used as an output selector as well, allowing you to easily switch between your speakers and headphones with a simple click of a button.
The Xonar U7 MKII comes with Sonic Studio as well, a full-featured and simple sound utility that gives users complete control over their audio. It offers various features such as equalization (EQ) and 7.1 surround speaker level-balancing. The utility includes Sonic Radar Pro controls as well, which lets you precisely map in-game sounds – such as footsteps and gunshots – and display them on an on-screen overlay, giving gamers an advantage in FPS games.
