Publisher Mode 7 has announced that “Tokyo 42”, which is describes as “the lovechild of Syndicate and GTA 1”, will be coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC simultaneously sometime in early 2017. The very brief description of the game is that it is….
Set in a future Tokyo, the game will see you become an assassin and uncover a dark conspiracy that will affect everyone.
With open-world single player and competitive multiplayer, you will buy and use a host of weapons and tools to approach the many challenges of this beautiful little world.
Also, cats…
The game itself is kind of difficult to explain, even the publisher describes it as a “super stylish spinny-camera-isometric ultracolourful cyberpunk open-worldy assassin-fest”, and the reveal trailer doesn’t really show much, other than a rotatable isometric 3D platform open world (for both single and multiplayer); a lot of the features of your character, such as the ability to use stealth and hide, use weapons and other items, and seemingly vehicles; the ability to blend in with regular civilians to hide from other players; a lot of killing; and less we not forget, cats.
You’re a budding freelance assassin in a world where sinister forces are at play, taking on missions to pay your way and becoming embroiled in all sorts of cyber-shenanigans. Bullet physics, jumping with air control, sneaky stealth and crowd simulation all play a role in this ultra-colorful kinetic frenzy.
