Baseboard management controller (BMC) chipset provider Aspeed Technology is expected to see its shipments of BMC chips grow 30% on year to 4.3 million units in 2016, according to a Chinese-language Commercial Times report.
Increasing BMC chip orders from major clients including Microsoft and Amazon for server applications will help ramp up shipments in 2016, said the paper.
Buoyed by its acquisition of Emulex, a previous BMC business unit of Broadcom, Aspeed is expected to account for 50% of the global BMC chip market in 2017 as it will expand the list of clients to include Fujitsu, EMC, Intel, and Cisco Systems, noted the paper.
The company reported earlier that it posted revenues of NT$137 million (US$4.31 million) for September, increasing 4.58% from the previous month. Revenues for the third quarter of 2016 reached NT$383 million, up 26.8% on quarter.
Accumulated 2016 revenues through September totaled NT$971 million, increasing 32% from a year earlier.
The company’s stock price surged 6.22% or NT$25 to close at NT$427 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) during the October 17 session.
