As anticipated by analysts, it doesn’t look like the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be setting any sales records for Apple. A new study conducted in the US has found that a very small percentage of consumers in the country are interested in the new iPhones. The vast majority on the other hand don’t seem to be very impressed and are unlikely to purchase a new iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus.

According to the study results, 67% of the respondents are unlikely to purchase a new iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus. Only 33% of the respondents are confident of upgrading to an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus. When Apple’s new AirPods don’t seem to be very popular either, with 71% saying they are not interested. Apple’s decision of axing the 3.5mm headphone jack from the new iPhones hasn’t received support from consumers, as 55% respondents feel that the lack of the headphone jack is not compensated by a better camera and longer battery life.

When asked about their favorite new feature, 32% saw no advantages whatsoever. 24% voted for longer battery life, 18% for splash and water resistance, and only 14% for the new camera features. The results aren’t completely shocking though, as analysts had predicted that the new iPhones this year will not help put an end to slowing iPhone sales. Things could continue heading south for Apple until next year, as sales could rise again only if the iPhone 7s (or iPhone 8) models impress consumers worldwide. According to rumors, next year’s iPhone models will include a number of major upgrades such as an all-new glass build, Super AMOLED displays, upgraded cameras, wireless charging, and more. Apple itself doesn’t seem very confident about the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, as it has already announced that it will not be revealing the first weekend sales numbers this year. However, early reports from US carriers T-Mobile and Sprint are very positive, hinting at better numbers than what the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s models achieved during the first weekend.
