Apple CEO Tim Cook has expressed his interest in augmented reality on multiple occasions and it appears the company is actively developing in that sector. One of the products in development is smart glasses. Bloomberg reports the glasses may connect wirelessly to iPhones. They’ll presumably be reminiscent of Google Glass in terms of AR functionality.
The glasses have been discussed with potential suppliers, but Apple is still only in the exploratory phase of the project. A release of the glasses, if it ever occurs, may not be until at least 2018.
Apple’s AR product would also compete against Microsoft’s HoloLens.
