If you haven’t read the latest news regarding the Western Digital-Toshiba acquisition, then you probably missed the information that Western Digital is seeking Apple for help regarding the acquisition of Toshiba’s flash memory business.
However, while it is in Apple’s best interests to have such partner in the memory production business, the Cupertino company has different plans. Apple is reportedly worried that his acquisition would eliminate a rival flash memory chip producer, meaning worse prices for the component that Apple uses on the iPhone and as a result, Apple is threatening to stop buying Western Digital products unless the latter backs away from the purchase.
