Apple Music’s paying subscriber count has topped 20 million, the company confirmed to Billboard. It’s been available since mid-2015 and had reached 17 million users by September. The service’s growth is pretty significant, though Music remains well behind Spotify’s 40 million paying users and 100+ million users overall.
Of course we want more and we want it to go faster — we’re hungry! We can’t forget that, as an industry, we still have very few music subscribers. There are billions of people listening to music and we haven’t even hit 100 million subscribers. There’s a lot of growth opportunity. – Eddy Cue, SVP of internet software and services, Apple
The Apple Music user base is made up of over 50% non-US individuals.
