At the moment, Apple is experiencing the bad side of OLED panels that are currently causing delays to its flagship iPhone model. Due to production issues of OLED panels, the iPhone X is not yet available for pre-order and will launch early in November in limited quantities.
Early rumours were pointing out to an OLED panel for all 2018 models, but according to a new report by Wall Street Journal, Apple is contemplating using some advanced LCD screens from Japan Display (JDI) for certain models.
Some of the advantages of Full Active LCD panels from JDI are cheaper price and smaller bezels, which are as small as .5mm compared 1mm on current OLED panels.
