Apple Inc. has been rumored to be making many changes for the future iPhone and the latest rumor suggests that the iPhone to be launched in 2017 will not have a home button.

Bloomberg has released a report claiming that the 2017 iPhone will not feature the iconic home button that has been Apple’s signature for many years. The report goes hand in hand with previous rumors about the design of the 2017 iPhone. Additionally, Apple is expected to pull all the stops with the 2017 iPhone since it will be the device that marks the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. Reports suggest that the company will use OLED display technology which will make it possible for the entire front part of the handset to look like glass.

Apple has produced handsets with the iconic home button since 2007. Eliminating the button will allow the company to focus on developing handsets with OLED displays and coming up with interesting new features. It will be interesting to see what Apple has in store by removing the home button which included a touch ID sensor and had numerous functions. Apple will, therefore, have to come up with alternatives for placing those features. The phone is also expected to be slimmer considering it will have slimmer bezels.

There have also been rumors that Apple is planning to introduce a third premium handset in 2017 and that it will feature a curved display meaning Samsung will not be the only manufacturer with a curved display. It has also been rumored that the curved displays to be used by Apple will be provided by Samsung.

There are high expectations for the device due to all the expected changes. In fact, the 2017 iPhone is expected to feature the most radical design changes that Apple will have made since its first generation handsets. Apple is planning to launch a new handset this year as part of its traditional releases though it will most likely not have much difference from previous offerings.
