Apple iPhone 8 Could be Delayed Due to 3D Sensing Technology

Apple’s upcoming anniversary iPhone 8 could see delays, and reports from the past few days have indicated that the smartphone could launch in October or November, while another report seems to confirm previous rumors.

Drexel Hamilton analyst Brian White has stated that the 5.8-inch iPhone 8 won’t arrive in September, and it will most likely be delayed by several weeks. The report by CNBC states that Apple is experiencing some challenges around the 3D sensing technology, which is why the launch could be delayed.

The analyst added that the situation could improve, but the iPhone 8 will most likely be available for pre-order several weeks after it will be announced in September, along with the 4.7-inch iPhone 7s and 5.5-inch iPhone 7s Plus.

The iPhone 8 will be available in the forth quarter

The analyst is confident that the anniversary OLED iPhone will be available for pre-order before the winter holidays, although it could prove quite difficult to get a unit. Barclays recently predicted that Apple could launch the majority of iPhone 8 stock in the last quarter of this year, when demand for premium smartphones sees a peak.

Another recent report suggested that the iPhone 8 might not launch until October or November, as suppliers are reportedly encountering difficulties with the display lamination process, while also experiencing challenges when it comes to integrating the 3D sensing front camera system.

Perhaps Apple will manage to overcome any difficulties that it encounters and make at least a small batch of iPhone 8 units available for pre-order soon after the September announcement. The iPhone 8 is said to feature 3D sensing front camera, which will have face and iris recognition features, and the capacity to snap 3D selfies. The system will send invisible IR light signals from the phone and detect received signals using the 1.4 megapixel IR receiver. Aside from this, Apple is also said to incorporate wireless charging technology on the upcoming iPhone 8.
