Apple confirmed today it’ll build a large data center in Iowa. The project will cost $1.375 billion and the facility is set to go live in 2020. Construction will begin next year. Iowa is facilitating the initiative with $210 million in incentives that have been offered in exchange for Apple pledging to create 50 jobs paying a minimum of $29.12 per hour.
The data center will be located in Waukee, Iowa. In total, CEO Tim Cook says “hundreds” of jobs will be created by the project.
This will make Apple the fourth major tech company, alongside Microsoft, Facebook, and Google, to place a data center in the state.
