Apple And Huawei Dual OIS Smartphones Release Delayed

How many OIS camera smartphones do you know? I guess a lot. Among them are the LG G5, Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, Google Nexus 6, Nokia Lumia 930, Lumia 1520, Lumia 1020, Lumia 830, BlackBerry Passport,  ZTE Nubia X6, Z7, Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro, Luni U3, Vivo Xshot, and of course, the iPhone 6 Plus and 6S Plus. But what if I ask how many dual OIS camera handsets do you know? One? The HTC 10? Probably, there are more handsets with such a feature, but the same Apple still is not capable of making such smartphones due to Electromagnetic Interference problems. So do not wait for the next iPhone that is going to be announced on September 7 to come with dual OIS camera.

dual ois lacks on iPhone 7

Those who are not aware, OIS stands for Optical Image Stabilization. This technology promises less blurry images and smoother video, but this is not something new in the niche. OIS has been around commercially since 90s when it was used in compact cameras and SLR lenses. Thanks to it photographers were able to shoot longer exposures without reaching for a tripod. By moving lens elements to counteract wobbly hand it induces camera shake, therefore it reduces blurring. Now it is used in smartphones more successfully thanks to smaller image sensors.

OIS controls the path of the image by understanding how the camera moves. Sensors like gyroscopes are used to calculate how the lens needs to move to counteract this. To move correctly the lens module uses electromagnet motors. Seems Apple is not solve the problem related with the latter.

In comparison to EIS (Electronic image stabilization) the OIS problems can be solved in at programming level after the optical signal has been converted to a digital signal. So we have to wait a little more before the Cupertino based company comes with a solvation. The same can be said for Huawei as well. Thus, most likely we will see dual camera smartphones from these brands in the near future, but they wouldn’t be OIS.
