AOC has launched a new AGON series gaming monitor with a 240 Hz refresh rate and support for AMD FreeSync variable refresh rate technology, the AG251FZ. The high native refresh rate ensures the days of stuttering and tearing are over, giving you a completely smooth gaming experience.
The AG251FZ features a 24.5-inch 16:9 TN panel with 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution, 1ms response time (grey-to-grey), and a high 240 Hz refresh rate. The panel is claimed to hit maximum brightness of up to 400 nits and boasts of typical 1000:1 static contrast ratio. AOC is claiming 170/160 degree viewing angles as well, but since it is a TN panel inside, you should not have high expectations with regards to viewing angles.
The monitor comes with AOC Flicker Free Technology and AOC Low Blue Light mode that helps reduce eye strain and fatigue during long gaming sessions. To boost dark areas during gaming, the AG251FZ offers AOC Shadow Control feature that brings light to dark corners without affecting the rest of the screen. The integrated stand offers height, tilt, and swivel adjustments.
On the connectivity front, the AG251FZ offers 1 HDMI 2.0, 1 DisplayPort 1.2a, 1 DVI, and 1 VGA port. You also get a USB hub with 4 USB 3.0 ports and headphone/mic jacks. The monitor includes a nifty carrying handle as well, which could prove to be quite useful for LAN parties.
The AOC AG251FZ will be going on sale in Europe in January next year for a price tag of 449 EUR. In the US, the monitor should be priced well below the $400 mark.
