Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge have been teased with promises of Nougat for some time now. It was supposed to land by the end of February, but Samsung later delayed the update to review its quality.
It appears that the delay wasn’t that long after all, as a number of SamMobile users reported that they received the new Android version today on their Galaxy S6 and S6 edge handsets. One reader in particular provided a screenshot of Vodafone pushing the update for the S6 edge in the UK, as firmwear version G925FXXU5EQBG. SamMobile also received reports from other European countries, such as Switzerland, Germany and Italy.
It is still unknown whether the update is limited to Europe, or not. However, even if it is, it’s expected that it will make its way to other markets shortly. Do keep in mind that some carriers might need more time than others to begin pushing the update, and unlocked devices are likely to get it first, as it will come straight from Samsung.
The 1.3 GB update brings a number of improvements, such as the new interface – Samsung Experience, which is much cleaners than what it was before. Another addition is Samsung Cloud, a cloud-storage backup feature that allows users to use up to 15 GB for free. It automatically syncs native apps, such as Contacts, Calendar and Notes, so all your important data can be safe.
