The $50 Amazon Fire tablet has been one of the best bargains for folks looking for a cheap tablet since it launched in 2015. But every now and again you can pick one up for an even better price… and right now is one of those times.
Amazon is selling the Fire Tablet for just $33.33 as one of its Black Friday week specials.
There are also deep discounts on other Amazon tablets, eReaders, media streamers and other devices.
What you get for $33.33 is a tablet with a 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, 8GB of storage, a microSD card slot, and tight integration with Amazon’s app, eBook, music, and movie ecosystems. It also supports Amazon’s Alexa voice service.
While the entry-level price gets you a version with “special offers,” or ads on the lock screen, you can pay extra to disable them. You can also pay extra for a model with 16GB of storage.
The tablet runs a highly customized version of Google Android and it doesn’t support the Google Play Store out of the box. But people have been finding ways to hack Amazon’s Fire tablet since it first launched last year, and you can find some of the latest tips and tricks in the 2016 edition of Liliputing’s Hacking the Fire tablet roundup.
Or you could just buy B&N’s new $50 NOOK tablet. It already has the Play Store enabled.
Here are some other deals Amazon is offering on its own devices starting today:
Fire tablets
Kindle eReaders
Fire TV
Echo and Alexa
