Amazon has built an image recognition AI capable of telling apart dog breeds. Known as Amazon Rekognition, the system isn’t fully available to the public, but all AWS users will have access to the API. Developers could use the software to improve indexing in photo apps or add facial recognition security features, for example.
The first example of Rekognition’s ability provided by Amazon is that it can identify a picture of a dog not just as a “dog” but as a “Golden Retriever.”
Rekognition is slowly rolling out. It’s initially available for free for users in Northern Virginia, Oregon, and Ireland.
