Amazon has started installing rooftop solar on its warehouses, with a goal of finishing 15 system installations in the US in 2017. It’ll expand its use of rooftop solar to 50 buildings by 2020. The first 15 installations are going to generate 41 megawatts.
Each facility may receive up to 80% of its required energy from the solar panels.
Amazon has a range of renewable energy initiatives that involve using progressively more wind and solar power for data centers and warehouses.
The company was criticized by Greenpeace earlier this year for not being at the same level of renewable energy use as companies like Apple and Google.
