Alibaba 2Q16 operations up on year

Alibaba Group on August 11 released its financial report for the second quarter of 2016, with GMV (gross merchandise volume) of CNY830.7 billion (US$126 billion) increasing 24% on year, consolidated revenues CNY32.154 billion up 59%, EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, amortization) CNY16.624 billion up 38%, net profit CNY12.187 billion up 28% and net EPS standing at CNY4.90, according to the company.
Consolidated revenues mainly consisted of CNY23.383 billion from B2C (Tmall), C2C (Taobao) and group online shopping services, of which 74.9% was due to mobile online shopping, CNY3.135 billion from digital media and entertainment services, and CNY1.243 billion form cloud services.
As of the end of June 2016, Alibaba had 434 million active online shopping service users and 46,228 employees.
