Samsung offers one of the best mobile VR headsets in the market right now with its Gear VR series. Now, the company has started offering its chipsets to other virtual reality headset manufacturers. The latest in the line is the Alcatel Vision, a standalone VR headset, which is powered by the Exynos 7420 octa-core SoC from Samsung.

The Exynos 7420 chipset, which uses Mali-T760 GPU, was first used in the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, and later in the Galaxy Note 5. The Alcatel Vision is equipped with 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM, two 3.8-inch AMOLED displays (each with a resolution of 1080×1200 pixels), and a 3,000 mAh battery. There’s no information on the platform this headset uses, but the device is expected to cost anywhere between €499-599.

Prior to Alcatel, DeePoon used the same Exynos 7420 chipset along with similar specifications in its M2 standalone VR headset. Looks like brands are preferring Samsung’s Exynos chipsets over solutions from other brands in their standalone VR headsets.
