Alcatel is expanding its POP 4 line of budget devices with a new 6 inch phone and 7 and 10 inch tablets.
The new Pop 4 XL and Pop 4 7 and 10 join the previously announced 5 inch Pop 4 smartphone, which has a 720p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage.
The Pop 4 XL is a 6 inch smartphone with a MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor, a 3,500 mAH battery, and an HD IPS display with curved glass.
It has a fingerprint sensor, a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front-facing camera and supports LTE Cat 6. The phone should be available in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa in mid-October, and it sounds like it’s not just bigger than the original Pop 4, but also a much better phone, more on par with the 5.5 inch Pop 4S (which also has a Helio P10 processor).
Alcatel’s Pop 4 7″and Pop 4 10″ tablets support 4G LTE, but I can’t tell from the press release if they’re basically big, voice-capable smartphones or just tablets with cellular data support.
The 10 inch model is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor, while the 7 inch model has a MediaTek MT8735 quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor.
There’s no word on the price for these tablets, but I’d expect them to be on the cheap side.
