Dara Khosrowshahi, the new CEO of Uber, says he recognizes the company has made mistakes with some of its operations. His statement comes days after London’s transport regulator revealed the ridehailing service would be barred from operating in the region due to its past behavior and its way of working with drivers.
Under his leadership, he wants the company to function with “humility, integrity, and passion.” This suggests Uber is moving away from the combative stance it took when Travis Kalanick was in charge. That combative stance led to many fights with regulators and sometimes a disregard for local rules.
Khosrowshahi believes the company “must change” and he’s apologizing for the “mistakes” it made in the past.
Going forward, it’s critical that we act with integrity in everything we do, and learn how to be a better partner to every city we operate in. – Khosrowshahi (in an internal email)
