DigiTimes reports that Acer is planning to bring a high-end smartwatch for the gaming market, along with a new smart wearable device to the IFA 2016 consumer electronics show in Berlin, Germany.
A “gaming” smartwatch certainly sounds unusual, so color us curious about what, exactly, is Acer’s vision for it. While smartwatches certainly play games – as elaborate as Counter-Strike, in fact – their limited screen space and conservative hardware power haven’t turned them into gaming publisher favorites.
As for the wearable, it will probably be a successor to the company’s Leap+ fitness tracking and calorie counter bands.
Additionally, competitor ASUS will show off the third-generation ZenWatch with its different design, while Samsung is expected to unveil the Gear S3 – a wearable with a built-in barometer for atmospheric pressure detection and weather forecasting. There’s also a built-in speedometer to detect the speed of the user while walking, running, or riding a bike.
