Got a new iPhone 7, we’ve got 7 tips and tricks for you to supercharge your device through 2017.

    1. Raise to Wake

If you want to view your iPhone screen, chances are, you are going to try sliding it open or pressing the home button. By using Raise to Wake, all you have to do is pick up your iPhone to see your lock screen alongside any notifications you have.

    How to do it:

Settings > Display & Brightness > Tturn off the toggle switch for Raise to Wake.

    2. No Pressing Needed

Now that your iPhone has a fingerprint sensor, you no longer need to Slide to Unlock. All you have to do now is press the home button to unlock your iPhone. However, if you’re too lazy to even press, don’t worry. just rest your finger on the home button to unlock the device.

    How to do it:

Settings > General > Accessibility > Home Button >Toggle on and toggle on the switch for Rest Finger to Open

    3. More Controls

Your Control Center can be easily brought up by swiping up from the bottom edge of your iPhone. This nifty trick allows you to easily access the Control Center to adjust Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings and a few other settings and features. However, you’re not restricted to those 4 toggles. You can also swipe to the left when viewing the Control Center. This will allow you to access its second panel of playback controls for music or podcasts.

    4. Remember Your Camera Settings

When you open the Camera app by default, the smartphone will bring up the standard Photo mode, not Square or Video. However, if you have a particular mode you prefer over the rest, it’s pretty easy to set your camera to open in those modes.

    How to do it:

Settings > Photos & Camera > Preserve Settings > Toggle on Camera Mode

    5. Sleepy Time

We know by now that blue light negatively influences our sleep. It makes it hard for us to fall asleep because it affects our sleep-wake cycle. However, you can easily reduce the “damage” screens do to your sleep simply by adjusting the screen display settings. You can schedule it for a specific period of time too.

    How to do it:

Settings > Display & Brightness > Night Shift

    6. Rise and Shine

We’re always going to bed later than we should because of our iPhones, chatting and texting late at night in bed. So by extension, we never wake up naturally without a damn buzzing alarm. So Apple has added a new Bedtime button, nesting it within your Clock app. In so doing, you can easily set yourself to wake up at the right time and schedule how much sleep is it that you would like tonight.

    7. Flicker Prevention (7 Plus only)

The last trick is solely for iPhone 7 Plus owners. You guys have the luxury of taking photos and videos with not just one but two rear-facing cameras. You can easily switch back and forth between the 2. However, this may create some flicker if you’re recording videos. To reduce such flickering, you can try to lock down whatever camera you want to shoot a video.

    How to do it:

Settings > Photos & Camera > Record Video > Toggle on Lock Camera Lens.
