A couple of days back, the manufacturer from the Chinese land ‘Xiaomi’ released another entry in the phablets (huge screen) section. It was none other than the younger brother of Mi Max, ‘Xiaomi Mi Max 2’. The second generation of Mi Max hit China after a long wait of nearly a year. For the first time, the day before its release leaks turned out to be true, and Mi Max 2 was not a surprise at all. According to the rumors, Xiaomi Mi Max 2 inherits almost the same metal chassis as well as the screen size from its older brother. But never judge a book by its cover. Even though it greatly reflects Mi Max, but Mi Max 2 has some breathtaking improvements done under the hood.

Let’s know those improvements which will make you fall in love with the new Xiaomi flagship:
1) A Freaking 5300 mAh Battery Better Than iPad Mini 4
In comparison with Mi Max, we witness a significant increase of 450mAh in the second generation of the Max series. It’s one of the longest running phablets around the world, even beats iPad Mini 4 battery life. With a generous capacity like that, Mi Max 2 plays 18 hours of video, 21 hours of navigation and a talk time up to 57 hours. Thanks to the power-efficient Snapdragon 625 SoC, a user can get a battery life of 2 days on an average use.
If you think that topping up a 5300mAh battery is time-consuming, then you are wrong. Apart from the perfect battery life, Xiaomi Mi Max 2 supports Quick Charge 3.0. With a maximum charge of 18W, Mi Max 2 charge up to 68% in only an hour, says Lei Jun. Plus, we also have the USB Type-C interface this time with reversible charging. It’s damn true that with that much power we can charge two iPhone 7 at the same time.
2) Xiaomi Mi Max 2 – A Bigger Badass iPhone 7 Plus?
For those who thinks that Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is same as Mi Max and say that the only change is Xiaomi has shifted the LED flash to the left side, are completely wrong. Comparing to the previous generation, the three-stage design has been upgraded to all-metal integration. The curvature on the top and bottom further exaggerates its beauty. The flagship uses the similar iPhone 7 Plus hidden antenna section layout. With a bigger screen, Mi Max 2 design turns out to be a bigger iPhone 7 Plus. Isn’t it true?

3) Upgraded Memory and Storage
We have seen enormous upgrades regarding the RAM of smartphones, this year. The maximum memory has reached to 8 gigs and storage to 256GB. So why should Xiaomi push back to the three gigs memory? With a large sized phone comes great memory and storage, and Mi Max 2 has done upgrading that. Now, the standard version of Mi Max 2 features four gigs of RAM as well as 64GB storage.
4) Improved MIUI & Design for Better One-Hand Experience
The greatest drawback of Mi Max was that the 6.4-incher is hard to use with one hand. Although one of the praising features of MIUI 8 is the one hand operation, still most people found Mi Max awkward to hold and operate. Along the continuation of the 6.44-inch full HD large screen and to ensure that the display has more visual impact, Mi Max 2 now focus on the black edge technology. In contrast with the previous generation, thin black borders have been introduced to the screen. The point here is to decrease the unexpected touch (reduced to 53%) with the black borders while holding a phone which is that much large.

Regarding OS, for a better one-hand operation, MIUI has introduced some adaptations. This includes the split-screen function that will release later in the July update. Indeed, the split-screen feature will allow the user to better utilize multi-tasking operations on the large screen of Mi Max 2.
5) Mi 6 & Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Has the Same Sensor
If you haven’t noticed yet, then you will notice it now. The fact is that the new Xiaomi Mi Max 2 features the same camera sensor as Mi 6. Witness the incredible performance of Sony IMX386 but don’t expect Mi Max 2 to have a similar result than Mi 6. The photography from Mi Max 2 is far lower than Mi 6. Why? It’s because Mi Max 2 has a single rear camera, no OIS, and aperture of only f / 2.2. Still, the single photographic lens of 1.25 microns, is 56% enhanced than the previous generation of 1 micron. And so, Mi Max 2 has way better camera performance than Mi Max.

6) All This For 1699 Yuan ($248)!
If you think that Xiaomi is increasing the price of smartphones year after year, then you are thinking the one way. Yes, Xiaomi is increasing the price of the newly released smartphones. But you don’t see is that on the other side it’s also increasing the specs with the passage of time. Mi Max (standard version) started to sell at 1499 yuan ($218). Meanwhile, Mi Max 2 (standard version) is selling for 1699 yuan. There is a price increase in the second generation but we should note that Mi Max 2 standard version features 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Whereas, Mi Max standard version highlighted only 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. Indeed, Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has a better value and price/performance ratio than Mi Max.
