3 reasons why UMIDIGI S2 Pro is not worth buying

257

Alright, we have all heard of the official of the Umidigi S2 Pro and all the fanfare that followed its release, however, what we are yet to ascertain is the fact that this smartphone could possibly be nowhere near what it looks like. We all know that before you purchase any product, you have to check the track record of its manufacturers. When the product is new and there are no users yet, there will be no customer complaints and thus some may fall prey. That is why we are here to advise that considering the track record of Umidigi, buying the S2 Pro is a very big risk.

Last week, there was an article that pointed to the fact that Umidigi smartphones are highly susceptible to bugs, software and battery issues and these problems occur from a few days to a few weeks after usage. Moreso, Umidigi is well known for its “Zero After Sale Support” so when these problems come, there is nobody to run to leaving you totally stranded. Did I mention that Umidigi is also known for poor quality check? Oh yes, it is. Thus, different units of their smartphones come with different issues. Here, we have compiled some reasons why the Umidigi S2 Pro is a purchase at your own risk. You can thank us later for saving you the embarrassment.

CopyCat

If you are looking forward to being among the class of smartphone owners with style then you should know that a smartphone whose design and spec is copied is the last product that you want. The specs and design of Umidigi S2 Pro are a complete copy of Samsung Galaxy S8, Bluboo S8 or iPhone 6 Plus. From the images below, you will see that the side design is 98% the same with just a change in colour and the length of the power and volume button otherwise every other thing is the same.

The screen details are a complete copy of the Samsung Galaxy S8 apart from the screen type and usable surface which itself is a copy of the Bluboo S8/iPhone 6 Plus. With respect to the screen, only the display ratio and screen resolution stand out, every other detail was copied from either the Galaxy S8 or the Bluboo S8.

The camera department and OS are 100% a copy of Bluboo S8.  When you look at the front of the Umidigi S8 Pro, you see a Galaxy S8, you look at the side, you see an iPhone 6 Plus and behind is just a little bit different from the Bluboo S8. This goes to show that Umidigi has a very long way to go in the smartphone industry and it has blatantly refused to learn given that it unveils new products every two months or so and it stills goes to copy other smartphones. Note that this is not the first copied job by Umidigi. Umidigi G is an iPhone 7 clone and Umidigi Crystal copied Xiaomi Mi MIX in terms of design just to mention but few.

2-Day Battery Promise

I had a huge laugh when I heard that Umidigi made a promise of a 2-day lasting battery on the S2 Pro. No doubt, having a 5100mAh battery on board is good but does that guarantee 2-days working time? Its website says Umidigi S2 Pro is the world’s first 2-days lasting smartphone. This statement is so vague because it did not specify the usage rate for the two days working time. Whether it is a standby working time, light usage or heavy usage working time is unknown. A statement like this has one thing staring at you and that is “a lie”. This promise by Umidigi is absolutely laughable because we have heard similar battery promises from the Umidigi Z and others only for customers to complain bitterly of purchasing a phone whose temperature rises to as high as 42-degrees and its battery runs down like a waterfall.

High Price

In all of this, the amount on the line is the most important reason why you should think twice before purchasing the Umidigi S2 Pro. This smartphone will cost approximately $ 475 and this as sure as hell is not a small amount. It is unthinkable to give $ 475 for a smartphone which is a copy of other smartphones, a smartphone that is not innovative and a smartphone whose manufacturer will not respond to your complaint when you have one.

Conclusion

Considering the massive complaints that have sprung out from other Uimidigi smartphones, it is honestly risky to fork out $ 475 for the Umidigi S2 Pro because you cannot be certain of what to expect. Every manufacturer has its problems but online, we have never seen such massive complaints from the likes of Meizu, Xiaomi, and even Doogee. Except there would be some sort of miracle, the Umidigi S2 Pro will most likely have many issues with its workability.
