According to Rhoda Alexander, director, tablets and PCs at IHS Technology, the upcoming 10.5-inch iPad Pro model will feature a 2224 x 1668 resolution display, giving it the same pixel density as the current 9.7-inch iPad Pro.
The 9.7-inch iPad Pro features a 2048 x 1536 resolution display, which results in a pixel density of 264 PPI. If Alexander’s info is correct, the upcoming 10.5-inch iPad Pro display will also boast of the same 264 PPI pixel density. While it may not sound very impressive when compared to smartphone displays, for a 10.5-inch tablet it certainly is quite impressive.
Alexander also confirmed recent rumors that claim the 10.5-inch iPad Pro model will come with slimmer bezels on all sides, which would make it quite compact. In fact, it could end up being roughly the same size as the 9.7-inch iPad Pro. She also added that the tablet is expected to arrive in the March to April timeframe, which makes sense as Apple is expected to be holding a media event in March, where it could announce the new iPad models.
The rumored 9.7-inch iPad Pro refresh, according to Alexander, could start at just $299. That would be $100 lower than even the iPad Air 2. Since it will be a lot more affordable, Apple will be using the A9X chip inside the tablet and not the latest A10X.
